Morning Sickness remedies for Mamas to be

I have been thinking a lot about my sister in-law lately, she is afflicted with pretty severe morning sickness. It can turn what is an exciting time into a real drag. So I have hit the books and the internet for some ideas off the beaten path that might help. Aside from the old trusty saltines, ginger ale, peppermints and lemondrops- there is a plethora of conventional and alternative ideas. One I came across was something called Sea Bands. I told my sister in-law about them and she said they use them in pre and post op in the hospitals to help ease nausea from anesthesia. So it’s one that’s worth checking out. There were other suggestions like smelling orange or lemon peels when nausea hits, taking dried ginger root capsules and vitamin B6 (see below article for link from the NIH).
There are many food suggestions, but sometimes even the thought of those might get you running for the bathroom. If you can stomach it, they suggest sticking to simple foods, like pasta, bananas, crackers and pretzels, whatever you might be able to keep down. In the meantime- hang in there! For most, it subsides between 12 and 16 weeks.
