I find it hard to muddle through the all the information we get about what is safe, what is not. We know we need to stay out of the sun, or at least give ourselves ample protection from its damaging rays. After years of sailing in my adolescence, rarely with sunscreen, I am hoping to turn over a leaf with my daughter and instill the habit of sun protection in her. She is blonde haired, blue-eyed and fair, and is a prime candidate for sunburns (possible furture skin cancer). As I research which lotion and cream is the best for babies and toddlers, I find the new focus on looking for sunscreen or protection without harmful chemicals. I found some really helpful sites explaining what is dangerous and why.
After a lot of confusing research, and endless reviews, I bought Mustela 50SPF and Blue Lizard for Babies 30SPF. I read the ingredient list and they seemed to have the least number of harmful chemicals and (reviewed as) the most effective. I will report back on how I like them, in the meatime, embrace the shade.
