| Recently we needed to buy a car seat to go in my husband’s truck. We already own a Britax Marathon that is in my car, the one we primarily drive. I didn’t want to buy brand new, so I headed to Craigslist and found a coverless Britax Roundabout for bid. I bid $20 and it was accepted. | |

I looked on Ebay to find a cover, there were some made by Britax and quite a few custom and handmade covers for sale. With all there were to choose from I decided to go with one that would be custom made by a woman in CA. I chose hers because the price, $35 plus shipping, was more than reasonable and she is a mom trying to make a little extra money and I want to support that. I went to Joann Fabric and bought the material for $12, sent it out and 7 days later received the seat cover. The turn around was so fast, and it is beautiful, the quality is nicer than the cover the seats come with. It is a great solution if your cover is a bit beat up, or your getting a hand-me-down or used one, or if you just want to change the look. I even think it would make a nice present for some lucky baby. She only does covers for Britax Roundabout and Marathon. You can find her on Ebay Express. |

It’s hard to find time to workout as a mother. Your energy and attention is generally focused on your little ones. But it is important to take care of ourselves too. After my daughter was born, I tried to get out and walk or run, but it was challenging to have a consistant routine. Paying for a babysitter, much less finding one anytime I wanted to go to the gym was too tough. I ended up finding a great exercise program specifically for moms and their babies. It is Stroller Strides, moms get to workout while babies ride along in their stroller. There are intervals of walking or running with weight training and cardio stops. Not only is it a great way to get back into shape but you meet other moms in your area. You can try a class free to see how you like it!
I find it hard to muddle through the all the information we get about what is safe, what is not. We know we need to stay out of the sun, or at least give ourselves ample protection from its damaging rays. After years of sailing in my adolescence, rarely with sunscreen, I am hoping to turn over a leaf with my daughter and instill the habit of sun protection in her. She is blonde haired, blue-eyed and fair, and is a prime candidate for sunburns (possible furture skin cancer). As I research which lotion and cream is the best for babies and toddlers, I find the new focus on looking for sunscreen or protection without harmful chemicals. I found some really helpful sites explaining what is dangerous and why.
After a lot of confusing research, and endless reviews, I bought Mustela 50SPF and Blue Lizard for Babies 30SPF. I read the ingredient list and they seemed to have the least number of harmful chemicals and (reviewed as) the most effective. I will report back on how I like them, in the meatime, embrace the shade.
