This is the poster my nineteen month old daughter and I created last week. It adds some more structure to our already pretty structured weeks together.
Having a specific schedule like this is not something I would normally do, but the idea comes so highly recommended from the Super Nanny DVDs I’ve been watching, I had to give it a try.
Even if it doesn’t add any tangible or specific benefit in the long run, it was a fun activity for us to put together!
We went to Michael’s Arts and Crafts to buy the posterboard, and while we were there we bought some stickers to decorate it with. Tuesday is our arts and crafts day, so after my daughter’s nap, we got out more stickers and were going to put them in some of her books. When I asked my daughter where she wanted to put her “My Little Pony” puffy sticker, she said “Up here!” and pointed to the schedule we made the week before!
Needless to say that put a big smile on my face!!
IKEA has some awesome little stuffed animals!

I’m flying with my daughter tomorrow morning on a two hour flight. She’s flown a few times before with her mom, but this will be the first time she and I will be flying together. We’re going to my cousin’s wedding in Maine and I’m really excited for my daughter to see her family on her dad’s side.
To keep her entertained on the flight, I’ve packed the following:
- Juice boxes
- Interactive books
- Some quiet toys (don’t want to drive the rest of the passengers crazy!)
- Lots and lots of snacks
Hopefully the juice boxes will make it past security!
UPDATE: The juice boxes made it past security OK, but I made a huge mistake when deplaning. My daughter and I exited the plane and continued right through to the terminal exit without getting our strolling. As we all know, its impossible to go back to the gate after you exit the terminal, so I had to wait almost a half an hour before one of the AirTran employees could bring it to me. Doh!
Yikes! My daughter might have Parvovirus 19 / Fifths Disease!
Its not as bad as it sounds though, mostly a rash and some discomfort. I’m a little confused though, she’s been sneezing and has a runny nose but those aren’t listed as symptoms. Its hard to know what babies are going through when they are sick.
I’ve been thinking about it for a while now- does using vinegar really disinfect and kill germs? I use mostly all natural or green cleaning products around the house but still have been using things like Clorox wipes and toilet cleansers in areas that I am just too suspicious of: ie kitchen countertops, bathrooms, sink handles, door handles. Can I really trust vinegar to kill flu viruses and e. coli? (Can you tell I have swine flu on my mind? Can you blame me I am pregnant and have a toddler!)
So I am getting down to the bottom of it. Honestly, I would rather use nothing but natural cleaners, safer for my family, safer for the world I share with everyone, but I am a germaphobe and want to know that I am wiping out flu viruses, e. coli and salmonella. I am searching out some info- does vinegar kill germs and viruses?
Here’s what I have found: vinegar kills 99% of bacteria, 82% of mold and 80% of viruses. For something like salmonella on a cutting board, hit it with boiling water or the sanitize cycle in the dishwasher. So, it looks like we can trust the bacteria killing power of vinegar, lemon and hydrogen peroxide. But I think during flu season I still may use some rubbing alcohol on door knobs, remotes, sink handles, etc. But I am happy to know for sure that I can really let go of the bleach.
Also, I read you should use 1 part vinegar, 3 parts water to clean your produce, too.
